Who We Are
We are a group of people who are doing our best to follow the perfect Son of God, Jesus the Christ, together. He is everything and he is what it is all about. The Penticton Church of the Nazarene is a group of people who gather because we have found the hope and transforming life change in Jesus. We exist to see others experience that same real transformation through a relationship with Jesus.
Where We Come From
Our church began in the 1940s when a few families who loved Jesus, joined together in a dream of seeing more and more people come to saving faith in Jesus. Over the years the church grew and outgrew their facilities several times as their dream of reaching more and more people with the good news of the gospel kept expanding. The current facility we gather in was built by a fairly small number of dedicated people who gave sacrificially of their finances, their time, and their energy with the dream of seeing more and more people's lives transformed by Jesus. The dream has always been to be a place where all the different generations gather together as a community loving Jesus and other people.
We are a part of the global Church of the Nazarene (COTN) which has a rich history of being a truly global community. COTN has been founded with the intent of creating local churches throughout the world and empowering them to be self-supporting and self-organized and with that history the global COTN is divided into six regions and has churches in 162 different world areas. Where We're Headed
What's the bottom line? We are committed to the mission that Jesus has given the Church, which is to make disciples. For a long time we have been a church that desires to be a place where the whole family can worship together. Just like the original dream of seeing more and more people impacted by a relationship with Jesus, we are a church that longs to see real transformation in Christ for all people.
What this means is that we are a community that longs to see others experience the transforming life change that is possible through an encounter and ongoing journey with Jesus. No one who has experienced who Jesus truly is and whose life has been changed by Jesus, can help but to love others and seek for them to experience the love of Jesus in redeeming ways. We long to see people's lives changed for the better in their spiritual walk, emotional health, and their physical circumstances.
This vision goes beyond the four walls of the facility we worship in and is meant to impact our lives, our families, and communities, and the whole south Okanagan.
What this means is that we are a community that longs to see others experience the transforming life change that is possible through an encounter and ongoing journey with Jesus.
